Originally organized in 1885, on January 15, 1890 Engine Company 24 was reorganized from chemical to steam and placed in service at the new building at Warsaw and Considine. Ladder Company 10 was organized and quartered in the same house at the same time. On January 6, 1940 Engine 24 and Ladder 10 moved to their current house on Glenway Avenue across from Schiff Ln. In 1997 Chief Tom Stiedel redesignated all ladder trucks to coincide with the engine houses where they were quartered, and Ladder 10 became Ladder 24.
