Junker died of a heart attack shortly before 2 a.m.
Captain Albert Heilman of Ladder 10, who was resting in a bed near Junker, said he heard his comrade arise and complain of chest and arm pains, then found him unconscious in bed after hearing a sound a few minutes later. He was pronounced dead at the scene by Dr Giles Decourcy. Junker had complained of chest pain and trouble breathing at a fire five days earlier. Junker lived with his wife and five children at 431 Purcell Ave, Price Hill.
