Kathmann was electrocuted when he stepped on a hot wire at Front and Rose Streets, where wind had blown off part of the roof of the Baltimore and Ohio Railroad warehouse. Fire fighters attempted to revive him with mouth to mouth resuscitation. Kathmann was pronounced dead on arrival at General Hospital a short time later.
