Keim died at General Hospital froma skull fracture received three hours earlier when Engine 14 and Ladder 7 collided at Fifth and Elm Streets. Ladder 7 was responding to a still alarm at 75-79 Elm Street. One half minute after the still alarm, a box alarm was sounded for the same location, causing both apparatus to arrive at the intersection at the same instant. Keim was 42 and lived at 4125 Apple Street. 13 other firemen were injured in the collision.
