Killed by falling bricks from the walls of the Twinlock Factory during the fire that consumed 
$2,000,000 in property and merchandise in the Shoe District Fire of 1910. Schwengel was 
attempting to rescue horses from a stable when killed. He was 35 yrs old and resided at 943 
East 3rd Street and left a widow and a stepson.
